UK sportsbook gives Rio Ferdinand a helping hand

Rio Ferdinand laces up his gloves for Betfair

The latest news shocking the sports world is that former Manchester United and England defender, Rio Ferdinand, is set to lace up his gloves and turn to boxing now that he has retired. Rio will be training to compete to win a title belt, and the response has been mixed. Many fans are delighted that Rio will be making the jump over to boxing, others still think it won’t happen, whilst some believe that Rio will be on the receiving end of many pastings. Betfair certainly believes in Rio, though, so much so that they have even got behind him.

Defender to Contender

Rio Ferdinand BoxingBetfair are launching a new project, known as Defender to Contender, and it will see Rio Ferdinand lace up his gloves and fight as part of the betting exchange’s program. Assisted by Betfair and a team of conditioning and boxing experts, Rio hopes to be able to qualify for his BBBOC (British Boxing Board of Control) license, before starting the long path down the road to a world title.

Some of the people backing Rio include former WBC super-middleweight champion and the trainer of Team GB, Richie Woodhall. Speaking on the move, Rio has said that “Boxing in an amazing sport for the mind and body. Clearly, not everyone can become a professional boxer – but with the team of experts Betfair are putting together, and the drive I have to succeed, anything is possible.”

The Defender to Contender project is the latest in a long line of ingenious ideas from the sportsbook. Last year, they helped Victoria Pendleton move from Olympic cyclist to Cheltenham jockey, in a similar project that won them a lot of fame.

Betfair – New advisors and Brexit odds

Busy week for betfair with new-advisors and brexit-odds

Betfair have quite a unique niche in the UK online gambling market. They are widely regarded as the UK’s leading betting exchange, and almost everybody in the sports betting industry has heard of them. This week, they are set to enter sports punter’s minds one more, following the announcement that Betfair have just appointed a new governance advisor, and that there have been some interesting wagers staked on Brexit.

The leading UK sportsbook recently announced that Jan Bolz would be taking over as a new Independent Director over at Paddy Power Betfair (PPB). From 2011 until 2016, Mr Bolz served as Chief Executive over at Tipico Sportwetten. In his past, he has always worked with video games developer Electronic Arts, and as Managing Director of the Bertelsmann Music Group in Munich, Germany.

The new Governance Advisor will surely be able to find a way to spice up gameplay over at Betfair, to enable them to continue to compete with other leading UK sportsbooks on the net. However, that isn’t the only piece of news to come out of this week.

Rather surprising set of bets on Brexit at Betfair

Earlier in the week, Betfair announced that they have received a rather surprising set of bets on Brexit. Punters at the UK sportsbook have taken no notice of the passage of the EU Withdrawal Bill and Brexit (which may have major ramifications for UK sports punters) and started wagering money on the UK not leaving the European Union by the March 2019 deadline. In fact, Betfair’s politics section has odds of 4/7, leading many to place bets that there will be a 63% chance that the UK remains part of the EU when the deadline passes.

Despite the sudden turn of events, Betfair spokesperson Katie Baylis commented that “it’s actually seen as more likely by punters that Theresa May will leave her post as Prime Minister before the UK leaves the EU, with odds of that happening currently at 1/2.”

You can get a slice of the action if you decide to sign up and play with Betfair, today, where the UK sportsbook is offering all new players a free £100 bet when they place 5 bets of £10 or more in sporting events (or political bets for that matter).

William Hill join forces with BD Sport

William Hill and BD Sports re-new Parnership

Leading UK online sportsbook William Hill have joined forces with BD Sports, a leading in-stadia marketing specialist in a new deal which is reported to last around 2 years. The basic premise of the deal will see the UK bookies live matchday coverage and fan initiatives presence bolstered.

BD Stadia (an element under the BD Sports Group umbrella) have already run in-stadium betting experiences at matches played at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge, Everton’s Goodison Park, and Tottenham’s temporary Wembley Stadium. A further six stadiums are set to be added to the deal, including those belonging to Bolton Wanderers, Bradford City, newly promoted Huddersfield Town, Preston North End, Queens Park Rangers, and the fortress that is Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium, currently known as the Bet365 Stadium for sponsorship reasons.

Part of the deal which William Hill is getting will see marketing provisions such as betting booths, staff uniforms, betting coupons and corporate hospitality suites and boxes with William Hill livery available at stadiums.

BD Sports will act as a booster to provide sports punters

William Hill promised back in August that they would be making moves to shore up their share of the UK gambling industry in relation to sports betting. They promised to spend rapidly and extensively on sponsorship and marketing, and it seems they are coming good on their word. William Hill is currently in the midst of adding more content to its digital betting services, whilst this new deal with BD Sports will only act as a booster to provide sports punters with more exposure to one of the UK’s most loved sporting brands.

Players who are interested in trying their luck at William Hill sportsbook can join today. The popular UK sportsbook is currently offering newbies £30 in free bets when they deposit a tenner into their accounts using the promotional bonus code of C30. Ladbrokes struggles with high-street bookies

Mobile casino gaming covers losses at Ladbrokes Coral

When leading UK bookies Ladbrokes and Coral got together, everybody predicted that the gigantic company would absorb most of the sports betting markets in the UK. That just hasn’t been the reality, though, as the figures show this week. The company has announced a 6% drop in revenue for the first half of 2017, with the official reason being cited as a drop in high-street revenue, courtesy of mobile gaming.

Whilst it may seem rather shocking to learn that there has been a drop in 6% of revenue for Ladbrokes Coral, it doesn’t quite tell the whole picture. Sure, Ladbrokes Coral’s high-street bookies have taken a bit of a battering, but their online presence is just as strong as ever. In fact, the hugely popular UK sportsbook’s casino sites have gone on to report an 18% rise in online revenue. That clearly covers their losses, with a total profit of £1.2 billion announced.

Old high-street bookies are in for a slow death at Ladbrokes Coral

Mobile casino gaming may be the death of the Ladbrokes Coral’s high-street business, but that same mobile casino gaming crowd are also contributing to the huge rise in funds for the company in the digital world. With the popularity of online betting on the rise like never before, it seems the old high-street bookies are in for a slow death. Even rival bookies William Hill has reported a 2% drop in revenue. The situation is far worse for William Hill, as they do not have the online resources and revenue to cover their losses.

Many believe that the bid to reduce the fixed odds betting terminal (FOBT) stakes could very kill off the high-street bookie once and for all. Whilst that is further bad news for William Hill, Ladbrokes Coral may disappear under new ownership. A second bid from GVC was received last week, to the tune of £3.6 billion. Once again, Ladbrokes Coral have rejected the offer, which makes sense given the terrific year they are having, once you overlook the drop in high-street revenue. As long as they hold a significant share of the mobile casino market in the UK, the future is rosy for Ladbrokes Coral.

Inter Milan signs deal with Bwin

Multi-year sponsorship agreement with Bwin

Any lover of Serie A and Italian football, in general, will be well aware that Italy’s top-flight and football association will be aware that Italian clubs have a fraught history with gambling companies. It was only a decade or so ago that Juventus were relegated down a division following their match-fixing scandal, with a few other clubs also hit in that saga. However, none of that seems to be a problem for Inter Milan, who have chosen to sign a deal with one of the UK’s top sportsbooks in defiance of the previous club ban on gambling enterprises.

FC Internazionale (as they are known at home) have just signed a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Bwin, which should run until 2020. The terms of the agreement will see the UK sportsbook able to advertise their brand around the San Siro stadium, the home of Inter Milan as well as cross-city rivals, AC Milan.

Real Madrid and FC Bayern München are also Bwin partners

Special match-day bets will also be present on Bwin’s sportsbook because of the deal, which is sure to excite UK football fans who happen to be signed up at the sportsbook. Inter Milan now join Real Madrid and FC Bayern München as partners with Bwin. The former owner of Inter (Massimo Moratti) had no interest in gambling deals and was widely regarded as being anti-gambling in nature. Now that the Nusantara Sports Ventures group from Hong Kong have snapped up the football club, the deal can go ahead.

Given that Inter Milan is now open for major UK sportsbooks and businesses to invest, it is no surprise that Bwin has come calling. As one of the most active of UK sportsbooks involved in the football world, the ability to offer their services and be linked with another major Italian club (alongside Juventus and AC Milan) is a major lure for them, with Bwin also heavily linked with the English powerhouses, Manchester United as an official sponsor.

Paddy Power is backing Rooney

Paddy Power and Betfair are backing Rooney to shine before the end

Let’s face it: for the last few year’s Wayne Rooney has hardly been on top of his game when it comes to Manchester United or England. Now he’s left both. Having been generously allowed to leave on a free transfer to Everton, and announcing his retirement from international duty this week, Wayne Rooney is free to focus all his attentions on his domestic football with his boyhood club. His form has improved already, so much so that Paddy Power are offering punters a tasty deal if he can become the Premier League’s all-time top scorer.

Rooney to knock-off Shearer?

Paddy Power Sportsbook BonusPaddy Power – one of the leading UK sportsbooks – is currently offering punters the chance to bet on whether the former Manchester United and England striker can surpass Alan Shearer as the all-time leading scorer in the top flight. At present, Rooney is just 60 goals behind the former Blackburn, Newcastle and England legend.

Wayne Rooney may have scored against Manchester City and become only the second player to enter the 200-club in the Premier League, but he’s still quite some way off Shearer’s record. Alan Shearer bagged 260 goals in his time in the top flight, and Rooney is quite far away from achieving that. In fact, many are predicting that the marksmen will never get anywhere near that record. He’s already become England and Manchester United’s top goalscorer, though, so Rooney is a player who likes to break records.

Paddy Power takes an interest

Paddy Power are taking an interest in Rooney, and are offering some tasty deals if you’re willing to back the striker in other areas, too. Betting on Rooney to finish at the season’s top scorer can see you get 33/1, although that is some way behind Man United’s Romelu Lukaku and Spurs’ Harry Kane, who are at 2/1 and 9/2 to do the job. If you fancy Rooney to bag Player of the Year, he comes in at 33/1, whilst if Rooney scores more assists than anyone else, you can net 35/1.

Will you have a punt on Rooney with Paddy Power or Betfair?

If you fancy a punt on Rooney with Paddy Power, sign up with the popular Irish and UK sportsbook today. Newbies can claim a free £30 bet right now, and it is risk-free. Match deposit bonuses and regular loyalty deals are plentiful, too, but only if you join Betfair this summer. New Customers Only. 18+. T&Cs Apply

LeoVegas Sportsbook and the League Cup

LeoVegas Sportsbook set for a derby draw in the League Cup

LeoVegas Sportsbook, one of the UK’s more popular online sportsbook websites is set to see two of their sponsored football sides do battle in the English Football League’s Carabao Cup in the next round. The League Cup (as it is more commonly known) has thrown up some sizzling ties in the past, but now Norwich City and Brentford – who are both sponsored by LeoVegas Sportsbooks – will now go head to head.

It really shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to learn that two LeoVegas sponsored football teams have ended up facing each other. Online sportsbooks in the UK are snapping up football sponsorship deals left, right and centre. It was only a matter of time before two eventually locked horns in a competitive cup competition. After all, most of these sportsbooks meet in domestic league structures throughout the season.

Norwich vs. Brentford

The two teams competing in the Carabao Cup aren’t exactly miles apart, which should make the match-up rather interesting for sports betting fans. Both Norwich City and Brentford play in the Championship, so they are guaranteed to face each other twice more before the end of the season, leaving LeoVegas Sportsbooks scratching their head at who they would want to win. The bookies are surely going to have to name a favorite, although that might be hard given that Norwich City sit just a single place above Brentford, at twenty-second and twenty-third, respectively. Both teams are in the drop zone, with the latter amongst the favorite to go down.

Have a punt with LeoVegas Sportsbooks today

LeoVegas Sportsbook currently has some rather adventurous odds if UK punters want to back either side to win the League Cup. Norwich are at 150/1 to win the competition, whilst Brentford are even more fanciful at 200/1. Any players who are interested in having a crack at the tie should sign up to LeoVegas today. Doing so can see punters pocket a 200% match deposit bonus when they register their first deposit as a Leo Vegas player, today.

Betway signs a deal to sponsor Werder Bremen

Betway new sponsor of  Werder Bremen

It is certainly not uncommon to find some of the United Kingdom’s leading online sportsbooks and betting shops doing sponsorship deals with a host of the country’s leading football clubs. After all, many of the Premier League and Championship’s more noticeable and famous teams have such deals, if not on their shirts, then on advertising hoardings around the stadium. Leading UK sportsbook Betway has gone one further this week, after announcing a deal with a leading German football club, Werder Bremen.

Betway joins forces with a proven winner

True, Werder Bremen is not Bayern München or Borussia Dortmund, but the 4-time Bundesliga champions are certainly no slouches in the German football league, either. The new deal sees the UK sportsbook expand its already impressive portfolio after they previously agreed to sponsor a host of 2. Bundesliga clubs, including Dynamo Dresden, Eintracht Braunschweig, St. Pauli, and Union Berlin. With the new Bundesliga season due to kick-off in a matter of days, this is a very exciting time for the online sportsbook.

Betway keeps up their presence in the football world

As well as sponsoring a number of Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga clubs, Betway have also done deals in the Belgian League. They are now the main sponsor of the Croky Cup (Belgian Cup), as well as the champions of the Belgian Jupiler League, RSC Anderlecht – a major coup for one of the UK’s smaller sportsbooks. The sportsbook giants are also currently the main sponsor of English Premier League side, West Ham United. The 4-0 battering the Hammers received at the hands of Manchester United last weekend gained coverage around the world, no doubt boosting the popularity of the sportsbook even further.

Join the Betway revolution

If playing Betway suddenly sounds appealing, the online sportsbook has a great offer to throw your way to sweeten the deal. Betway is currently offering all new players the chance to claim a welcome bonus worth up to £30 when they sign up and deposit as a new player today.

Bet365 announces new welcome bonus

New Welcome Bonus for Bet365 Players

The Premier League returned to action last weekend, and to celebrate, one of the UK’s most loved online sportsbooks has just showcased a new welcome bonus for players. Bet365 has already been receiving a lot of coverage with streaming of live matches, and now they are going one step further to cater to footy fans in the digital age.

A new offer from Bet365 Sports

The online sportsbook is gearing up to offer all new players who decide to sign up and place their favorite sporting wagers at Bet365 a welcome bonus which is worth up to £200 in total. After making a first deposit of at least £10, all newbies will be invited to double that deposit, courtesy of a 100% match. The total amount that can be claimed is two-hundred notes, as we’ve said.

Crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s

Of course, like all sportsbook bonuses and promos, there are a few terms and conditions which sports fans may wish to consider before deciding to snap up this offer with open arms. Firstly, players are going to need to check the deposit method they use to claim the offer. Neteller and Skrill deposits are not valid for the offer, so VISA and MasterCard, PayPal and other e-wallets seem to be the way to go. Players also need to claim the welcome bonus offer within 90 days of registering for an account, or it will no longer be valid. That’s pithily stuff considering the value for money you could get with this offer, though.

Start your new season in style with Bet365 Sports

The new welcome bonus – the ideal Premier League starter pack – is available to claim right now over at Bet365 Sports. If you fancy going digital for the new season, then Bet365 sportsbook may be for you, with its live streamed matches and its handy and size-able welcome bonus, who wouldn’t mind kicking-off with a tasty bonus like this?

William Hill ready to boost marketing for new season

William Hill invest in marketing for the Premier League season

William Hill sportsbook is ready to significantly invest in marketing just in time for the new Premier League season, which gets underway this weekend. With many of their rivals merging with rival companies, launching special weekend offers in time for the kick-off of the new season, or going mobile now that Google’s Play Store permits gambling apps; William Hill will have their work cut out for them to be able to compete – hence the sudden willingness to invest in marketing.

William Hill opts for social media

Using the same terminology as many chief executives, William Hill’s Philip Bowcock claimed that the sportsbook would be drafting together some “dynamic marketing campaigns” which includes a look at social media, such as Facebook and Twitter.

Mr Bowcock is the new CEO at William Hill, and his job is to get the online sportsbook firing on all cylinders following a decline and general dip in customers over the last few years. The dip in customers doesn’t seem to have affected revenue, though, with William Hill sportsbook announcing a 13% rise in wagers taken over the last year, although many will argue that this rise in revenue is largely down to the Euro 2016 football tournament.

Your Premier League, Your Odds

A few cuts here and there have seen William Hill save roughly £40 million, and now Mr Bowcock plans on ploughing at least half of that cash in generating interest in the sportsbook. The #YourOdds social media campaign will continue in earnest (it has already brought in £2 million according to WH), and it is thought that sponsorship could be another way to lure in customers. Many of their rivals have been actively sponsoring football teams, both in the Premier League and the Championship. It certainly wouldn’t come as a surprise if the bookie looks at this as a source of luring in customers ahead of the start of the new season.

Join William Hill today

If you fancy joining the revolution over at William Hill sportsbook, why not sign up as a new player now? The bookie is offering all newbies £30 worth of free bets when they deposit and bet a tenner using the C30 promo code. Or try your luck at LVbet sports. There, is a brand new bonus available!
